Tensions between the pair were most evident at the 2011 Spanish Grand Prix. Their rivalry reached a boiling point at that time, as public spats were exchanged and accusations made in the media.Stoner’s remarks about Rossi’s ambition and skill, coupled with Rossi’s criticisms of Stoner’s riding, fuelled a bitter rivalry that kept media and fans buzzing for many years.
Stoner lost respect for Rossi after that incident, and his attempt to apologise.
Stoner said in an interview with Moto. it that “when Vale arrived at Ducati, this was also hard to watch because I know the pressure they are under and they don’t deserve.”
The budget was small, but we managed to do a lot with it.
“Unfortunately, Valentino and Jeremy Burgess spoke negatively about my team and me.
They basically said that we didn’t know anything and they would fix the bicycle very quickly. This is a big offence to me because my team was involved.
