Laguna Seca: Repsol Honda Team Preview
The Laguna Seca circuit, the shortest of the Motorcycling World Championship, will hold next weekend the tenth round of the Championship, the United States Grand Prix. The Repsol Honda Team arrives with Casey Stoner on top of the overall standings, Andrea Dovizioso in third and a recovered Dani Pedrosa who, after his win at the Sachsenring last Sunday, is now fifth.
Casey Stoner travels to the U.S. determined to keep his efficiency rate in this MotoGP season. The Repsol rider has been on the podium in all races of the first half of the Championship, except for the Grand Prix in Jerez, where the Australian was not able to finish the race after being hit by Valentino Rossi. A consistency that has placed him on the lead of the Motorcycling World Championship.
His team mate at the Repsol Honda Team, Dani Pedrosa, arrives to the American meeting upbeat after his victory in the last German Grand Prix. A success that confirms that, after a very tough recovery, the rider from Castellar is once again at his highest level, showing that he is one of the most competitive riders of the MotoGP grid.
Andrea Dovizioso lands on the Laguna Seca circuit with a very strong third position in the World Championship’s overall standings and with the aim to increase his 34-points advantage over the fourth before starting the traditional summer break.
After a break of more than two weeks, the Continental Circus will resume the action next August 12th with the Czech Republic Grand Prix.
“I’m looking forward to going to Laguna Seca, it’s a circuit I’ve always enjoyed quite good results at and we’ve always been naturally quite fast there. The track itself is a very tight and technical track, there are lots of sweeping gradients and unusual corners with a lot of camber, so you need to be delicate on the track and not ‘attack’ it too much.
We’ll be looking to improve our results from the past three weekends, three podiums are great but I’m here to win races, so we’ll be aiming to get back on the top step next Sunday in Laguna. It’s been a pretty tiring few weeks and we have another back to back race now, but I love going to America and the area of Monterey is truly beautiful, the fans are always very welcoming and the atmosphere there is fantastic”.
